After only two enthralling days, it seems that the many-layered drama of sisters Tatiana and Natasha Boncompagni may already be drawing to a close (the public aspect of it, anyway). HarperCollins novelist Tatiana--who is either the socialite descendant of Italian royalty or a scheming fraud, depending on whom you ask--filed suit against her sister Natasha, who was attempting claim credit for portions of Tatiana's forthcoming Hedge Fund Wives. Natasha countered with a flurry of emails to every media outlet in town detailing the nature of her contributions to the novel, along with a series of attacks on her sister's character, which included accusations of everything from lying about ancestry to keylogging computers to fakery on the part of Tatiana's husband, Maximilian Hoover (as in the vacuums). She also directed interested parties to two websites where she had posted excerpts of manuscript in an effort to prove authorship (Tatiana claims that Natasha surreptitiously copied these passages during family visits).   read more »

As we mentioned yesterday, Gilding Lily author Tatiana Boncompagni is set to face off in court with her sister Natasha over the authorship of Tatiana's forthcoming novel, HarperCollins's Hedge Fund Wives. Unfortunately, it seems like this isn't going to be the nice, quiet family lawsuit Tatiana might have hoped for. This morning, the Daily Transom awoke to a generous helping of emails courtesy of Natasha Boncompagni, who claims (among other things) that her sister's lawsuit was a pre-emptive response to her own plans for legal action. Of course, this is just one of the many claims being tossed around. Below, a selection:

From the very beginning, Tatiana and I were a "writing team": my decade long Wall Street career experience and insider's knowledge of the social workings of the Hedge Fund community, coupled with Tatiana's writing experience and requisite knowledge of the mechanics of constructing a novel.

Society girl and Gilding Lily author Tatiana Boncompagni is experiencing some family drama. According to Cityfile and Bloomberg.com, Ms. Boncompagni is taking her sister Natasha to court over a dispute concerning Tatiana's upcoming novel, Hedge Fund Wives. It seems that Natasha, who "provided input" on the project, also surreptitiously copied portions of the book during visits with Tatiana with the intention of later claiming co-authorship, which she apparently did during an October 1 phone call. A "shocked" Tatiana, who turned her manuscript in on September 19, has responded by suing for copyright infringement and the right to be named the undisputed sole author of the project (not to mention some monetary damages).  read more »

Irina Aleksander sat down with socialite and writer Tatiana Boncompagni, whose new book Gilding Lily may ruffle some feathers in her social set. Just don't tell that to Tinsley Mortimer, Lydia Fenet and Jennifer Creel, who are throwing her a book party on Tuesday.

Ms. Aleksander also put in a call to Gossip Girl producer Josh Schwartz to ask whether he really thought those CW Network ads were too racy. He says: No way!

And Spencer Morgan, reporting from the Republican National Convention, spent a whirlwind evening with Matt Drudge crony Andrew Breitbart, who's launching a new website called (modestly) Big Hollywood.

“It’s not like I was raised to the manner born,” said the socialite and author Tatiana Boncompagni on a recent afternoon as she lunched at Bottega del Vino in midtown.

On Sept. 9, Ms. Boncompagni will publish her first novel, Gilding Lily, about a simple girl from Nashville named Lily who is embraced by New York society when she marries a millionaire, then dumped by her fancy friends. Ms. Boncompagni’s publisher, HarperCollins, has marketed her as a descendant of Italian nobility and 16th-century Pope Gregory XIII, but she insists that her background is closer to that of her character’s, as she grew up in South Dakota and Nashville with a mother who left her noble roots behind when she married Ms.  read more »

Via Park Avenue Peerage -- Tinsley Mortimer and actress Emmy Rossum, along with Vogue, will co-host a party celebrating the release of New York Times Styles writer Tatiana Boncompagni’s new novel Gilding Lily (out on September 9th from William Morrow/Harper Collins) at the Tahari store on West Broadway. Also expected to attend are socialites Jennifer Creel, Christian Leone, and Lydia Fenet, among others. The book—the story of a suburban girl’s marriage to the scion of a Manhattan society family and subsequent struggle to re-enter the social scene after pregnancy ravages her figure and energy--is Ms. Boncompagni's first novel. It's a satirical take on her experiences in New York, both as a chronicler of social life and a participant.  read more »
