Church of Scientology Buys More Harlem Property
The Church of Scientology has purchased more property on 125th Street, and one of the buyers is listed in city records as Richard Fear. We kid you not.
The L. Ron Hubbard-founded religion recently closed on 230 and 232 125th Street for $10.2 million, according to city records. The latter address was formerly the site of the St. Samuel Church of God.
In 2003, the Scientologists acquired 220 East 125th Street for $3.45 million. They're currently building a 33,000-square-foot church on that property and will build a new community center on the more recent acquisitions, according to Karin Pouw, a public affairs representative for the church.
According to Ms. Pouw, the superhero on the deed, er, Mr. Fear, is a Trustee of the church.
The new property sits just two blocks north of the Church of Scientology of Harlem, currently the only other outpost of the Tom Cruise and Beck-followed faith in the zip code. The church also has locations on West 46th Street and East 82nd Street.
Ms. Pouw said that the timeline for completion of both properties is about two years.

I wonder how african americans would feel if they knew what hubbard had to say about them?
http://www.solitarytrees.net/racism/deny.htm
"Stehpen" (sic!), you lie. The usual on the internet though. Maybe one should ask how africans, americans, and everybody else in the world can easily find out what Scientology is? Well, by going to the above addresses, for example, or the many internet websites on the subject. Harlem by the way is here http://www.scientology-harlem.org/ (obvious, isn't it).
This is great news! If this means Scientology brings along all their Human Rights and anti-drug programs to town, WOW!
Now, what's so remarkable about this? A religious community buys some buildings for a new center. Happens alls day, I guess.

The best way to know that Hubbard was not racist is to listen to the several black friends who knew and loved him while he was alive.
Another way to know that Hubbard was not racist is the amount of african-american executives within the Church of Scientology management.
The quotes in this hate-site are not representative of feeling of race. They're representative of cultural hurdles, not based on race but on education and environment.
One of the supposed quotes is taken from a diary entry in L. Ron Hubbard's childhood diary. Holding a religion accountable for a child's use of the word "chink" is quite a far stretch of hypocriticval political correctness.
Sincerely,
Greg
Scientologist and proud of it

Stephen's link leads to a page; "..requires slavish devotion.." Stephen, U are just plain SILLY !
Clearly this is further Scientology expansion. This is great news!
see citizens commission on human rights site there is a booklet about psychiatry creating racism see it.and know the truth who societies real enemy is:psychiatry!
Hubbardist, Can you not confront all the racism littered through Hubbards writings? I guess that is why my post is flagged, eh? People have an inaliable right to all the facts about scientology and not just what scientology needs to present to supply an 'apparency'. Ya see Hubbardist, I know the history of scientology..I was once like you and those that frequent comment sections of places just like this. YOU arent "afraid to hurt anyone in a just cause".
"They took people who were totally dedicated to certain tribal procedures … and said, "You're free." And they said, "Free. Free? Free. Ah! You mean there's no police anymore." Boom! Boom!"
–L. Ron Hubbard, State of Man Congress, Opening lecture, 1 January 1960.
Have you ever slept with a member of a race of another color?
Have you ever committed culpable homicide?
Have you ever bombed anything?
Have you ever murdered anyone?
Have you ever kidnapped anyone?
–L. Ron Hubbard, HCOPL 7 April 1961, "Johannesburg Security Check"
"It is considered in England and the United States that the Government of South Africa is altogether too harsh with its native peoples. It is sadly humorous to notice that the native in South Africa, however, holds an exactly reverse opinion and the fault he finds with the South African Government is that it is far too lenient in its administration of laws throughout the native populace."
–L. Ron Hubbard, PAB No. 96, "Justice", 15 September 1956
No Gretg, those quotes are direct from DMSMH, PAB's and HCOPL's. If you wish to discuss Hubbards personal writings....
"You shouldn't be scrubbing the floor on your hands and knees. Get yourself a n#$@^er; that's what they're born for."
-L. Ron Hubbard, in letter to his first wife.
Some of you scientologists need to go back and read DMSMH, you do all have the latest 'basics packages' dont you?
"Actually, have you ever noticed how a Negro, in particular down south, where they're pretty close to the soil, personifies MEST? The gatepost and the wagon and the whip and anything around there—a hat. They talk to them, you know. "What'sa mattuh wi' you hat?" They imbue them with personality."
–L. Ron Hubbard, Therapy section of Technique 80 ("Route to Infinity" tapes), Part I, a lecture given on 21 May 1952

You can here hubbards own racist ramblings online. Why do you think you are told to avoid the Internet?
What I think it shows more than anything else is the rapid expansion of Scientology. And for those who haven't been keeping track, this follows along Scientology's current campaign of creating new churches all around the world, such as can be found in New York City, Madrid, London, San Francisco, Johannesburg, Tampa, etc.
Scientology is no longer a church: the less members it has, the more buildings it buys with whatever money it has been able to get from its unsuspecting richest victims, people like Tom Cruise, John Travolta and James Packer, the australian media mogul, to quote some.
This way, even when all the clients of the cult will have deserted its profit centers, the cult will still be able to make more money from its building cost increase, moreover so since scientology uses its own staffs as unpaid builing workers.
Everyone who is against scientology has obviously committed
crimes that they are afraid scientology could detect. So I
have to ask" Why are the critics afraid of L Ron Hubbard, what are their crimes?" I'm a Catholic, not a scientologist, but L Ron Hubbard has been acclaimed all over
the world by millions of people as a "Friend of Mankind".
He was a nuclear physicist, war hero, and helped the governement fight the communists, can any of the critics say the same?
Interesing justification Greg, my interpretation of your post: Hubbard sounded racist only because that was the common slang in those days and he just didn't know any better.
In regards to Hubbard's "several black friends," who were these friends, and where can we find their words of adoration? Honestly, I'd like to read them. Were these friends members of scientology? If not, why?
As far as the upper-level managment within the church, what is the demographic breakdown? Is there a number that can be prescribed to your generic "amount?" What percentage of executives are African-Americans? To be honest, Greg, every picture I've seen of upper-level management and the sea org look pretty white-bread to me. The demographic profile I've gleaned from the pictures do not appear to be representative of the US nor the world population as a whole.
I am aware that Jesse Prince (an African-American) made it to a high-ranking position within the church. However, he has since left, and claims that racism by church leaders played a large part in his decision to leave. Do you believe he could have felt some racial pressures?
These are just my humble opinions, I look forward to information proving me wrong.
Bob Dobbs,
What is truly sad is that you are so compelled to lie about being a scientologist. If you were actually a Cathotic and not a scientologist, chances are you would know what Hubbard had to say about all religions being galactic implants and scientology was "the only way out". Hubbards war record is freely available to see he was no hero, and in fact, he was somewhat of an embarrassment as an Officer.
Hubbrds College grades are also available for all to see that he was a failure and knew as much about physics as you know about the real scientology Mr Dobbs. Hubbard was thrown out of Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) because he wanted to halt the coming change of the aparthied system that he praised in his letter to H.F. Verwoerd (the architect of aparthied) in 1960.
Hubbard was a racist, and its evident in his DMSMH alone.
"Primitive societies, being subject to much mauling by the elements, have many more occasions for injury than civilized societies. Further, such primitive societies are alive with false data. Further, their practice of medicine and mental healing is on a very aberrative level by itself. The number of engrams in a Zulu would be astonishing. Moved out of his restimulative area and taught English he would escape the penalty of much of his reactive data; but in his native habitat the Zulu is only outside the bars of a madhouse because there are no madhouses provided by his tribe. It is a safe estimate, and one based on better experience than is generally available to those who have conclusions on 'modern man' by studying primitive races, that primitives are far more aberrated than civilized peoples. Their savageness, their unprogressiveness, their incidence of illness: all stem from their reactive patterns, not from their inherent personalities… The contagion of aberration, being much greater in a primitive tribe, and the falsity of the supersitious data in the engrams of such a tribe both lead to a conclusion which, observed on the scene, is carried out by actuality."
People have a right to all avenues of information and not just what Scientology wants people to see.
Where are all the minority groups in Management? Jessie Prince was right.
oh yeah right you're a catholic. listen to you, you're a broken record of the "what are their crimes" business like those nutters on youtube. search for scientology crazy followers on youtube. either that or you're just being sarcastic which is ok by me
This business of Scientology being a "white-bread" religion is news to me: I am Puerto Rican, my auditors
(ministers) are Jewish, and I've seen at least a dozen black members, as well as hispanics and asians of every
nationality. Another phenomenon that is real to me is that I've lived before as a member of every race including some that no longer exist. Scientology's overall message like the Bhuddist, is that your current life is only a day in a life to an eternal being. Given that context, this race-baiting of Scientology based on a few of L.Ron Hubbard's alleged quotes is a red herring at best; even if he said any of those things, I certainly don't get that LRH was a bigot.
Alberto, thank you for your anecdotal evidence. However, I was looking for something more concrete, such as statistics put out by the church. The only information I've found comes from the What is Scientology web page, which broadly states that "scientologists cover the entire spectrum." While I'm sure there are scientologists of all races, my comment of "white-bread" referred to upper-level management and the sea org, NOT the membership. This would be similar to a large corporation that boasts of the number of minorities it employs. However, if that same corporation had no or very few minorities in executive positions should they still be commended? Wouldn't that show a corporate culture with some racial bias?
I don't believe this is "race-baiting." It is merely pointing out some of the hypocrisy within the church as it relates to racial issues.
Once again: does anyone have any official statistics of upper-level management or the sea org? I've yet to see a picture of David Miscavige surrounded by executives who aren't white.
Prove my opinions are incorrect.
I am a Scientologist. Personally part Chinese/Cuban/Morrocan and Swedish. My fiance is Ethiopian. I have worked two separate times at the highest levels of the church. Those proclaiming rascism in Mr. Hubbard's work are just showing ignorance. IN addition, they themselves are rascists of the worst kind. To deny that certain races have been the target of brutality, smear campaigns, genocide, rascism, etc... is to deny the history of the world. Growing up in a predominantly black neighborhood myself, the problems my community experienced were different than let's say - the Chinese Community or upper middle class white community. To deny the individuals within the communities their problems - is to not understand and to alienate them. With few exceptions, the information being provided here from the (naysayers of Scientology)are completely out of context. People have problems, fact. But your problems are different than my problems. Some of my problems are because of the environment I grew up in. As are yours. To have written and commented on the various issues of the various races and have cared enough to even try to provide light to all races, is a good thing. Not bad. At the end of the day, the people who have nothing better than to spend time trying to say something bad about any particular religion will be just as unhappy tomorrow as they are today.
The pro-scientology posters here are part of the effort
scientology makes to put positive spin for itself on the
internet. The ones who think that Hubbard was'nt a racist
might have blocking software installed on their computer and they can't read anything from the critic's sites. They
also might not really be a minority themselves, Hubbard said it was ok to lie to promote scientology.
scientology loves to remind us hubbard wrote over 10 million words in his lifetime. So finding out how he feels about other races is easy. You can even google L Ron Hubbard and quotes or black quotes.
Scientology can afford to buy all these buildings because they don't have to pay taxes. Of course this also means the tax base of the area goes down and the goverment will have to cut back on services.
Take away the tax breaks and watch how fast they unload the buildings and forget the people in the area exsist.
You can learn more at xenu.net and xenutv.com, there you can see public and court records they can't defend and lots of video's that show the members of scientoloyg in action.
"I've yet to see a picture of David Miscavige surrounded by executives who aren't white..."
Jerry, to that I say you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink it. If blacks and latinos want to join the Sea Org or work in upper management they are not barred by race, but you can't force them to either if they just don't gravitate toward those activities. And how do you know the people you see are all "whites"? Did you give them each a DNA test? I haven't yet seen a Black or Latino Pope, Monsignor, Rabbi, or Mormon either. You're not holding their feet to the fire, so why pick on Scientology in that regard?
Hello. I've been a Scientologist for about 37 years. It was founded here in the US, during times when blacks and other minorities were very suppressed, and often didn't get to even know about the subject, unless they got the books. In other countries, the membership and execs will be whatever lives there.
As far as the international people, they are mostly people who have been Scientologists for a long while, and joined in the times when virtually all Scientologists were from the US or England - thus tend to be the racial groups involved.
Quite bluntly, worrying what "race" someone's body is, when you are looking to put them into a senior post in ANY organization is racist. Why don't you just ask "are they competent?"
Mr. Hubbard wrote and gave lectures all over the world. If you want to know what he said, you'll have a lot to listen to and read. If all you're concerned about is the race of the people listening, or working, instead of how you can use the materials, you're wasting you time. Go watch a movie, you'll have more fun.
If someone really wants to know what Mr. Hubbard said, or what Scientology is, or what Scientologist think, it's easy easy easy to find out. Go visit a nearby Scientology organization, and look at www.scientology.org.
Same as if you wanted someone to have accurate information about YOU, you'd want them to talk to YOU, yes?
Church of Scientology is getting established for the upscale buildings coming across from their church with 125th rezoning. Smart business move. And good economic move for East Harlem who currently have no training institutes.
The Mormons are in central harlem and now scientology will be in east harlem.
Maybe these institutions can do a better job of helping lift up the people and remove them from the bondages of drugs and poverty better than those big time African American churches who give up Sunday service seats for white tourists.
You know just like the old days, when the white owners use to watch the slaves services for entertainment.

The only helping that "church" wants to do for anyone is to help lift their wallets and do their thinking for them.
The truth about Scientology is freely available on the internet no need to pay anything.
Scientology is an unscrupulous for profit business. They charge members outrages fee's for their auditing services and lie to members telling them then can achieve immortality and acquire super powers (that is not a joke) all for 6 figure fees. Look up 'Operating Thetan' or Xenu.
I don't believe this is "race-baiting." It is merely pointing out some of the hypocrisy within the church as it relates to racial issues.
